James joined SEARCH in 1995. He is responsible for the creative and strategic direction of the company. He oversees marketing, branding, collaborations, and the pioneering of new and niche markets.
James earned his bachelor's degree in Anthropology from the University of Florida, and has worked as a field archaeologist and photographer across the US and internationally. He has been certified by the US Coast Guard as a Captain and by the USDA as a Forestry Steward.
James has received awards and honors for his business, creative, and conservation works, including the Environmental Ambassador of the Year award from Men’s Journal and Jhane Barnes. He is also a Fellow in The Explorers Club.
James lives in Maine and occasionally at a conservation property in Florida.
