Architectural History

As one of the few firms in the nation with a registered Historic Architect on staff, the SEARCH Architectural History Division provides the traditional suite of historic built environment services as well as highly specialized tasks such as historic preservation services, restoration and reuse planning, economic analysis, and tax credit eligibility. We have national and international expertise with historic building inventories, assessments, and recordation according to Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS), Historic American Engineering Record (HAER), and Historic American Landscapes Survey (HALS) standards. We provide architectural and heritage management training to DoD and federal agencies.

Our staff includes the former Senior Architect with the President’s Advisory Council on Historic Preservation and an award-winning team of Architectural Historians who have experience with major projects at the county, state, regional, and national level. SEARCH is an industry leader with military, transportation, energy, emergency response, and post-disaster projects. Our staff meets or exceeds the Professional Qualifications Standards for History and Architectural History as set forth in Secretary of the Interior’s Standards and Guidelines for History, Archaeology, and Historic Preservation (36 CFR Part 61).
