“My team and I have heard nothing but praise for SEARCH's professionalism and hard work….I personally appreciate their creativity and willingness to deliver a superb product .”  - Mike Renacker, RPA, Senior Project Manager, USACE Vicksburg District

Heritage Design and Museum Exhibition Design

SEARCH creates museums and museum-quality exhibits, displays, and media of all types to tell the story of our past. We established the division to support our customers that have either a regulatory requirement or a public relations initiative to share interesting archaeological, historical, biographical, architectural, or cultural discoveries with a broader audience. For suitable projects that require mitigation, our proven performance introducing creative alternatives to traditional mitigation has resulted in an approximately 40% cost savings, 50% schedule reduction, and greater professional, agency, and community goodwill.

Our creative team includes a Division Leader, Project Manager, Creative Director, Art Director, Media Producer, Media Director, copywriters, illustrators, fabricators, and museum specialists. Our staff has experience that includes The History Channel, Discovery Channel, Travel Channel, RVCA, Von Zipper, National Park Service, and SCAD. The team works with SEARCH’s Archaeologists, Maritime Archaeologists, Historic Architect, Architectural Historians, and Historians to ensure that each project is interesting, entertaining, and accurate.

Our creative process is rooted in storytelling and includes the following phases:

  1. Discovery
SEARCH scientists and researchers uncover important and interesting findings.

  1. Research
Our work is rooted in research, whether in the laboratory, archives, studio, or interview chair.

  1. Audience Analysis
We determine the ideal method to communicate with the target audience.

  1. Venue Analysis
We determine the best use of the venue, whether physical, digital, permanent, temporary, traveling, or a combination.

  1. Design
We design several concepts and options for our customers to explore.

  1. Agency Support
Once the preferred concept is selected, SEARCH coordinates with government agencies and review boards.

  1. Creation
SEARCH crafts, constructs, folds, films, records, paints, codes, writes—anything that is necessary to create the project.

  1. Installation
We deliver it and put it up.

  1. Marketing
SEARCH supports our customers with grand openings, public days, promotions, advertising, press releases, social media postings, and interviews to market the success of each project.

Our award-winning work includes the renovation of the Motor Vessel Mississippi IV from a working 130-foot riverboat into a public museum and website; the redesign of the USMC Cultural Resources website; the Building 521 exhibit at the NAS Great Lakes Museum; the construction of a new Mound House museum; and numerous displays, books, websites, and booklets for NAVFAC, USACE, USAF, NPS, DOT, and other government and commercial customers.
