Architectural History

Built environment documentation, digital recordation, and industry-leading expertise.

SEARCH has documented tens of thousands of historic architectural resources across the globe. Our award-winning architectural historians specialize in historic building inventories, assessments, and recordation according to national, state, and local standards. Our team is known for its rapid response to survey heritage sites, as well as remote and large-scale projects.

In addition to US-based urban, coastal, and corridor surveys, our architectural historians conduct international projects, which have included studies of the World War II Japanese defensive positions on the island of Rota, historic schools in the Caribbean, and Cold War-era resources across the Pacific. Our work also includes both Historic American Engineering Record (HAER) documentation and laser scanning of historic properties, including a historic lighthouse threatened by a hurricane on Elgin Air Force Base and USS Texas in dry dock.

All projects are led by cultural resource professionals who meet or exceed the Secretary of the Interior’s (SOI) standards.
