Coastal

Specializing in dynamic environments and communities near water.

SEARCH has three decades of experience supporting infrastructure and development projects in coastal regions of the US and globally. On-shore and off, we have expertise with coastal and island archaeology and have worked across nearly every island in the Caribbean. We supported the Spanish Pass project, which helped restore over 1,600 acres of marsh habitat in Louisiana. Our maritime archaeology staff conduct remote-sensing surveys and collect bathymetric data, side-scan sonar, and sub-bottom profiler imagery to assess the potential for submerged cultural resources. Our architectural historians have extensive experience recording and assessing the distinct architectural styles and materials associated with places along the coast.

Clients

Clients include the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM), port authorities, departments of transportation, the US Coast Guard, and numerous commercial customers.
